Thanks for your reply. Yep, the video is out of date, but as you say the issue has not been resolved.

That's a very telling story: word does get around.

Totally with you on this one. Maybe one day it will be safe and convenient to cycle or sail there. The Palestinian vegetables are suffering from Israeli competition in a very unbalanced trade war in which the army decides who can and cannot enter. I wonder if the Israeli vegetables are findin their way into your West Bank village due to lack of demand from this country, and how campaigns like J-BIG (Jews for Boycotting Israeli Goods) would feel about the impact of this failure to support local farmers. The video you linked is about a year out-of-date but sadly the people you support feel very little has changed or will change. However, something has got to give. I'd love to write more about this country. My mother told me a story about these vegetables; her grandmother in the South of Israel was asked why she was scrubbing the cucumbers with soapy water and a brush? Answer: They are from across the border, where they might have cholera in the water. (This was before the pull-out.)

An other thing Young Greens could do is specialise in criminal law and other areas of need. I know several local members doing this: Matt Sellwood, and Amber in Southwark. It's relatively cheap and teaches you a lot of things they don't usually include in the National Curriculum. In hindsight, a law degree would have been better than my B.Sc..
I am a member of the Environmenal Law Foundation, which former Young Green Coordinator Franscesca Richards worked for for a year, and I think it's important that continues to exist.
And excuse the French, Kieran Anderson, but the singular of Beaureaux is Beaureu.

Nice post. I've been living in Germany for a few months now and it's in fact the substantial presence of the Green Party here that made me realise how Greens can make a real change and motivated me to search the web for my local party back home. I can't seem to find a link for a Liverpool based student/young persons group. Can someone help me out?

Surely if 80% or even 100% of the new Lords were elected it would be a popular assembly, of a sort? And at no point did I say the Lords expenses system should escape criticism.

Unfortunately, pragmatism is the order of the day at the moment, in my opinion; we've got 2 MEPs and one MP. We need to ride with whatever current works best for the Green movement, and I'm simply trying to highlight the most progressive options available.

You can't approach everything with a set list of criterion in a situation like ours; we need to be flexible when we can. There's no use sticking to a dogma that won't get us anywhere.
